Carmel trained as a nurse at Kings College Hospital and as a midwife at St.Georges Hospital, London, qualifying in 1990. Her interest in ultrasound let her to undertake a Masters degree in clinical ultrasound which she completed in 2000. Carmel has worked as a midwife sonographer at The Harris Birthright Centre at Kings College Hospital for the last 17 years. She is highly experienced in all aspects of obstetric ultrasound. Nayna Patel

Nayna trained as a Radiographer at Hammersmith Hospital and qualified in 1980. Her interest in ultrasound led her to undertake further training at Queen Charlotte and Hammersmith hospitals and she gained a diploma in medical ultrasound in 1990. She has been working as a sonographer since then and has vast experience in gynaecological, obstetric and general ultrasound. She gained a masters degree in ultrasound from City University in 1997 and has been involved in a number of research studies involving novel techniques in the use of ultrasound contrast agents in chronic liver disease, ovarian and breast cancer.
