A 3D ultrasound scan is a special scan that shows the baby in three dimensions. The main reason for having this type of scan is if you are curious to see your baby's face. The best time to have a 3D scan is at 26-32 weeks of pregnancy. This is because it is easier to get a good picture when there is more amniotic fluid but the baby has not yet become too big.
