Acupuncture at The Birth Company is provided by Emma Cannon and Jani White.

Jani and Emma are here to support women throughout their pre-conception, pregnancy, birth preparation, through childbirth, and throughout their recovery and post partum care.

Both the Birth Company acupuncturists are highly experienced in working with fertility and pregnancy, and here at the Birth Company we provide a fully integrated medically-led service.

Many women may experience uncomfortable symptoms in their pregnancy:

  • nausea and/or vomiting
  • indigestion, digestive disorders
  • haemorroids, constipation
  • tiredness, lethargy, fatigue
  • aches and pains
  • high or low blood pressure
  • anaemia
  • dizziness, fainting
  • tinnitus
  • oedema; swollen feet, legs, fingers
  • headache, migraine
  • back ache, sciatica
  • SPD (symphysis pubis disorder) also called pelvic pain
  • mood swings, depression
  • poor appetite, food aversions and cravings, bitter taste
  • thirst
  • rashes
  • varicose veins
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • Excess vaginal discharge (leukorrhorea)


Many women may find they are uncomfortable after delivery:

  • poor contraction of the uterus
  • extended bleed
  • problems of regulation of bowel and urinary function
  • pain or discomfort from tears or stitches
  • healing from tears or stitches
  • feeling unsettled during the hormonal shifts into breastfeeding
  • issues of smooth transition onto the breast feeding hormones
  • unhappy or complicated feelings
  • post natal depression
  • insufficient lactation - when milk is slow or deficient
  • milk flow which is too abundant (!)
  • blocked ducts, mastitis and milk fever
  • sore or cracked nipples
  • infected caesarean scar
