Cervical Scan

If you are at risk of premature birth, it may be useful to have a scan, using a probe in the vagina, to assess the length of the uterine cervix. This can be done at any stage from 16 weeks but is most useful if done sequentially at 17 and 21 weeks of pregnancy. A cervical scan is usually done after an abdominal scan.

Notes

1. Consultant or Sonographer?

If you are having a normal pregnancy, then in most cases a scan by one of our experienced sonographers is advisable. All our sonographers are fully qualified and accredited, so you are in safe hands. If however, you are experiencing complications with your pregnancy or need a second opinion, a scan with one of our consultants is recommended.

2. You do not need a referral from your GP or Obstetrician.
