Arranging a Private IVF Scan in Cheshire

Ultrasound scans can play an important role in fertility treatment. We can use ultrasound to check on your reproductive system before you start treatment or to see how well you are responding to the medication you’re taking for IVF. We can also ensure that procedures such as egg collection and embryo transfer are performed at the best possible time. Keep reading to find out more about arranging a private IVF scan in Cheshire.

Types of IVF Scan

If you’re having fertility problems or you’re undergoing IVF treatment, then your fertility clinic may refer you for several different types of ultrasound. We perform all of the following IVF scans in Cheshire:

  • Your fertility specialist might recommend a full pelvic ultrasound as part of a health check and fertility assessment before you begin treatment. We may be able to identify a specific cause of your fertility problems that can be treated to improve the chances of conceiving.
  • Follicle tracking scans are used to see how well your ovaries are responding to the medication used to stimulate over-production of mature eggs. We will be able to tell when the eggs are ready to be collected for your IVF treatment.
  • Endometrial lining scans are performed to measure the thickness of the womb lining to see if it is ready for an embryo to implant itself. We can check that you are ready to have the embryo transfer procedure when you’re having IVF treatment.

Timing of IVF Scans

While the full pelvic ultrasound can be performed at any point, the other types of IVF scans need to be timed according to your menstrual cycle or fertility treatment. The best day for your scan will depend on how long your cycle is, but we usually recommend coming in for your first follicle tracking or endometrial lining scan on the 9th day of your menstrual cycle. You may need to come in for another private IVF scan in Cheshire about 1-2 days later if your follicles or endometrial lining aren’t ready yet. You can always ask us if you have any questions about the timing of your IVF scans. Your fertility clinic will also help you to understand which scans you need and when you should have them.

Working with Your Fertility Clinic

We have lots of experience providing private IVF scans in Cheshire, so we understand how important it is to coordinate your care with your fertility clinic. We always provide a full ultrasound report with pictures for your fertility specialist so that they know exactly what we found. The results will help them to understand your needs and to get the timing of the egg collection and embryo transfer procedures right. The scans we perform will ensure that you get the best possible care in order to maximise your chances of success.
