We may also recommend additional scans if there are any complications. For example, you will probably need more frequent scans if you are expecting more than one baby, you are an older mother, or you have a history of problems during pregnancy.
In addition to your scheduled scans, you might also need extra scans if you experience any unusual symptoms such as bleeding. We’ll arrange an urgent appointment to check on your baby if you’re worried about anything.
You don’t need to have a medical reason to have another ultrasound. You can also choose to have additional scans if you would like us to check on your baby more often. You might want to find out if you’re expecting a boy or girl before the 20 weeks scan or to arrange a 4D ultrasound so that you can see your baby’s face in colour.
