Since 2012 The Birth Company has been the London based leader in the provision of the most advanced non-invasive prenatal testing. The Birth Company has now brought this advance in prenatal screening to Cheshire. Currently The Birth Company offer the following non-invasive prenatal cell free DNA tests: TDL VeriSeq v2 by Illumina NIPT, Panorama NIPT and SAFE (also called Iona) NIPT. This gives parents to be the opportunity to have more accurate prenatal screening than the Nuchal Translucency screening offered by Cheshire, Manchester and Liverpool local NHS hospitals. NIPT screens for three targeted chromosomal conditions from 10 weeks of pregnancy; Downs Syndrome, Edwards Syndrome and Patau’s Syndrome. With NIPT you can also find out the sex of your baby. The Harmony, Panorama and SAFE tests are screening tests only, they are not diagnostic.
We provide same day and short notice early pregnancy scans, nuchal translucency scans, anatomy scans, reassurance scans, TDL VeriSeq v2 by Illumina tests, 4D HD Baby scans and fetal well being and growth scans (including Doppler scans). Both our availability and the calm, relaxing environment is much appreciated by anxious parents to be.
The Birth Company provide same day and flexible appointments for those having IVF treatment in Cheshire and Manchester, or those travelling abroad. Our Specialist Sonographers use advances in ultrasound scanning including 3D ultrasound technology, to provide accurate endometrial lining, follicle tracking and gynaecology scans to support your fertility journey. We also offer same day blood tests for those requiring fertility blood test screening.
The Birth Company is developing links with local NHS and other private providers in the Cheshire, Manchester, Liverpool and North Wales to support your pregnancy and fertility pathways.

What is an Early Pregnancy Scan?Available at our dedicated Alderley Edge clinic an Early Pregnancy Ultrasound Scan, also called a Viability or Dating scan, will confirm a pregnancy, confirm the gestation age and establish an Estimated Due Date (EDD). An Early Pregnancy Ultrasound Scan can be performed from 6 weeks of pregnancy. This private pregnancy scan is available to all women at our Cheshire clinic, it is particularly recommended where there has been pain or bleeding. Our Specialist Sonographers can perform early pregnancy scans from as early as 5 weeks or 6 weeks of pregnancy, however this is only recommended if clinically indicated. We recommend this scan for all pregnant women, however particularly for those over 35, where there is an increased incidence of miscarriage. We also recommend this ultrasound scan for those with a history of pregnancy miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. Why have an Early Pregnancy Scan?During your early pregnancy scan our Specialist Sonographers can confirm how many babies you are having. Our Specialist Sonographer can confirm the presence of your baby’s heartbeat An Early Pregnancy Scan can indicate the size of your pregnancy gestation sac or the embryo/baby, which confirms the number of weeks pregnant you are. This can help determine your Estimated Due Date (EDD). Our Specialist Sonographers can assess the presence of internal bleeding which may be significant and require further monitoring. Our Sonographers can ensure your pregnancy is growing inside your womb, excluding an ectopic pregnancy. What you will receive:

Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound Scan (Including blood test) | 11-14 | £220.00 | BOOK NOW | |
What is the Nuchal Translucency Scan? The Nuchal Translucency Scan is offered from 11 to 14 weeks of pregnancy to screen for certain conditions, such as Down’s syndrome. The nuchal translucency ultrasound scan is offered in NHS hospitals in Cheshire for all pregnancies. The Birth Company offer private nuchal translucency scans if your pregnancy care provider is unable to offer you an appointment, or if you seek private, high quality pregnancy scans. It is performed as part of a combined test, including a blood test to provide screening results. In addition to the screening tests, our Specialist Sonographer will check on your baby’s growth and development in detail. Why the Nuchal Translucency Scan? The Nuchal Translucency scan is offered between 11 to 14 weeks of pregnancy. Our Specialist Sonographer will confirm the number of babies you are having, that your baby is developing well with a good heartbeat and your Estimated Due Date (EDD). Parents to be will be given an individual chance of their baby having one of three chromosomal conditions present: Down’s Syndrome, Edwards’ Syndrome and Patau’s Syndrome. These are the most common trisomies. Nuchal Translucency first trimester screening has a sensitivity of 85% for detecting Down's Syndrome. This is calculated by inputting certain maternal and fetal factors including: - The age of the mother/egg donor at the stage of conception/egg collection The Nuchal Translucency measurement- this is the measurement from ultrasound scan of the fluid present behind baby’s neck at this stage of embryological development. The measurement is very small, it is taken in millimetres. The Nuchal Translucency usually measures between 1-3mm. The presence of a larger measurement may increase the chance of a chromosomal or physical condition being present. The Presence or absence of baby’s nasal bone. The absence of the nasal bone may increase the chance of a chromosomal condition. Level of two hormones (free ß-hCG and PAPP-A) in the mother's blood known as the hormone biochemistry. A high free ß-hCG combined with a low PAPP-A can increase the chance of the presence of Down’s Syndrome. A low free ß-hCG and low PAPP-A can increase the chance of the presence of Edwards’ and Patau’s Syndromes. The Fetal Heart Rate measurement- the number of times your baby’s heart beats per minute. This varies throughout the day, and throughout the weeks of pregnancy. This measurement is included when calculating the chance of Edwards’ and Patau’s Syndromes. Our Specialist Sonographers will perform a comprehensive, detailed early fetal scan. This includes assessing baby’s head, brain, face, heart, stomach, abdominal wall, bladder, hands and feet. This is more extensive than what is routinely offered by the NHS hospitals in Cheshire, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds. This determines the presence of any physical conditions which can be seen at this stage of pregnancy. What you will receive:

The cervix or birth canal, is the passage at the opening of your womb. It will adapt as your pregnancy progresses in order to keep your baby safe and then to prepare for delivery. The cervical length scan be performed from 14 weeks of pregnancy. It is most beneficial if performed sequentially at 16 weeks and 20 weeks of pregnancy. We can however perform this pregnancy scan at any stage from 24 weeks. During this pregnancy scan we measure your baby's head circumference HC, abdominal circumference AC and femur length FL. These measurements are plotted onto growth charts and used to calculate baby’s current weight. This is called the Estimated Fetal Weight, or EFW. This gives an indication to the size your baby will be at birth. This is best predicted from 28 weeks gestation onwards. We also look at how your baby is moving, the amount of amniotic fluid AFI, and the position of the placenta. We will also assess the Umbilical Artery Doppler blood flow in the umbilical cord blood vessels.
